Deirdre Russack

Councillor Candidate

I have fairly recently returned to Eurobodalla Shire (Narooma) having purchased a property nine years ago in which to retire.
Our family farm at Dignams Creek is still occupied by my mother. I have other family in Narooma. Consequently, despite spending the majority of my life in Canberra, I have been a frequent visitor to the south of the Eurobodalla Shire.

Since returning to the Narooma areaI have become an active, qualified member of the Narooma Bush Fire Brigade, involved myself in the activities of U3A, joined the Narooma/Dalmeny bushwalkers and joined a couple of local gardening groups. I am also a dog carer for the
Eurobodalla Animal Welfare League.

My experience as a public service leader stands me in good stead for the role of a Eurobodalla Shire Councillor. I have long held an interest in public service and the administration of organisations that provide that service.

Throughout my nursing, youth work and Australian Public Service careers I have encouraged the maintenance of values and standards across the workplace as well as modelling change management and behavioural standards that enhance the reputation of those who provide
public service.

I would like to see a more equitable distribution of resources across the shire and for the people who live in and visit Eurobodalla to feel that the Council serves all its constituents
well.

As a shire councillor I would expect to listen to the views of  residents and visitors, be transparent in my actions and accountable to the residents of Eurobodalla. I think this is the
very least that should be expected of those in whom the public place their trust.

If you would like to talk to me about the Council working in partnership with the community, please phone 0402 423 520
