Maureen Searson

Councillor Candidate

The Eurobodalla has been my home since 1981 after moving from Sydney. After nine
years Nelligen I moved with my husband and five children to Catalina in 1993.
Four of my five children were born in Batemans Bay Hospital and my children and
grandchildren have and are attending Batemans Bay Primary School and Batemans
Bay High School.
I am connected with the local community through volunteering and involvement with
community groups. I was a mentor at Batemans Bay High school in the Youth Frontiers
Mentor Program in 2015 and 2016. For seven years in the early 2000’s I volunteered
for Bravehearts White Balloon Day – a national annual child abuse awareness
campaign.
I completed a Bachelor of Arts – Community & Environment – at the Batemans Bay
campus of Wollongong University, and in my current work I interact with the community,
am a good listener and am skilled at working in a team that focuses on helping people
achieve good outcomes.
My passions are swimming, being in nature, art and crafts and spending time with
family.
I want a Council that is transparent and accountable that engages with and advocates
for the community. I want to see more women in Council to properly reflect the
community. I believe this is important for local democracy and better outcomes for the
community.
I look forward to working with a strong Labor team and a progressive Council.

If you would like to talk to me about the Council working in partnership with the community, please phone 0456 178 844
